The guys were all away at a Father and Kid camp out for the weekend so Heather and I went to explore Salt Spring Island.
We made our way to Crofton to catch the ferry across to Vesuvius Bay. While waiting at the ferry terminal a man walked up to us and asked if we were going across to the Island. If so, could we please take this "kleenex box" to the other side. Inside was a baby bird. Apparently his daughter had found the bird and it was only a day or two old. We were to take it to the other side where a person from an animal recovery center would be waiting. So Heather took a look in the box to see what were were actually transporting and then we put it in the back seat. Sure enough someone met us on the other side and took the bird. That was a first for either one of us! Our "good deed" for the day!

We had a fabulous lunch in Ganges and explored the public market and other shops in the area filled with all sorts of treasures.

We had some gelato and headed for Mt. Maxwell. We climbed and climbed and climbed some more for about 9 km. The last section of road is better suited to a 4x4 truck but Heather was having fun putting their Corolla through the paces! The view from the top was worth the trip. Of course the pictures do not do it justice.

We made our way down and headed for the other end of the island towards Fulford Bay.
We took in some sights.
This is a church built in the late 1800 by settlers, some of the early settlers were from Hawaii.
As we approached Fulford Bay our timing could not of been more perfect. We basically drove right onto the ferry heading for Swartz Bay and made our way to downtown Victoria. Here is Heather on the ferry looking like a real tourist with the Canadian flag flying in the back ground!

I love how this picture captures the sun sparkling and dancing on the water like a bay full of diamonds.
Once downtown we were pleasantly surprised to find many of the shops open late for summer shopping, who knew?! There were lots of great deals for our shopping pleasure!Once we were shopped out it was on to Milestones for a delicious dinner before making the trek home.
All in all it was a fabulous day with lots of great conversation and spent in the company of my friend, thanks for the day Heather.
