A Grand Day Out On The Water

We have been out very few times on our boat this year. The weather has not been great or our days are filled with other activities. On Saturday we finally headed out in the afternoon to enjoy the water, do a bit of fishing and have a picnic dinner. Sophie came along too and this was her first boat ride with us. We stayed in local waters and the weather was great and we all had a good time.

Heading out of Departure Bay.
We saw this sight a few times during the day.
Our first stop was in Taylor Bay on Gabriola Island. We dropped anchor and the fishing rods came out.
Everyone who fished (all the kids) caught at least one during the day.
We weren't out to "catch the big one" we just wanted to catch and we caught lots.

After a while we moved on and cruised around before heading to Newcastle Island for dinner.

Peter got into a fight with his hoodie but he eventually won!
On the last day of school we took the boys to see Toy Story 3 and these clouds were looking like "Toy Story" clouds to me.
After a dinner of smokies and smors we headed back onto the water to do more fishing. This time we headed towards Jack's Point and the fish were biting. If you talk to Sophie she'll tell you how the sea stars were biting too!!
Oh, and did you know you can also fight with an anchor and tire it out or should I say it can tire you out!

The sun was starting to set so we brought up the lines and headed for home.
As we traveled down Newcastle channel the sun slid in behind the clouds and painted a lovely picture in the sky. We were heading home sun kissed and tasting of salt and fresh air. A perfect day with our family.
