With the coming of May we hope for sun shine for all the different outdoor activities.
The weather was perfect for our Mountain View Track meet. I spent the day at the track timing for the running events. There was excitement in the air as the kids competed in lots of different events and there was always a crowd to cheer them on! It brought back many memories of my track meet days...some things don't change too much.
This was Peter's first year at the track meet and he had a great day. He did very well in his different events. Well enough in the 400 meter to go onto the Zone meet and he was thrilled about that. He will also be doing the 4 x 100m relay at the Zone meet.
Niklas had a good day too except for the wipe out on the track in the 200m race that brought Mom running and a very disappointed boy who was staring down the finish line.
Nik will be going onto the Zones in the 1500m and the 100m so that helped overcome the disappointment of the wipe out.

When looking at the pictures of Peter and Niklas you can see their different "intensity levels".
Peter thinks it's all great fun
It's a great time to chat with the guy in the lane beside you!
Peter running his 400 m race. He did so well, it is a hard distance to run(sprint)
And Niklas is intent on winning.
Peter's field event was long jump.

One of Niklas' field events was the softball throw.

Also with the good weather comes the task of mowing the lawn. This was Nik's year to learn how to cut the grass. With some instruction from Dad he was off and running. On his first time he mowed all the lawns and did an excellent job!
One Sunday afternoon we headed to the park to play catch and ride bikes. There was also a stop at the playground before heading home.

Yes, the boys are wearing wet suits! Crazy kids!! It was a warm Friday afternoon and they wanted to go for a dip in the pool that had only been filled a few days before. I told them that it would be too cold but they were determined. In a matter of minutes they were looking for their wet suits to provide a bit of warmth.
Even though this boy hasn't got an ounce of fat on him he can float around in that freezing cold pool. Brrr
