The Caribbean - A Wonderful piece of God's Creation

Anders and I traveled to the island of Providenciales (also known as Provo) in the Turks and Caicos Islands, in the Caribbean. Darby (Anders' boss) graciously allowed us to use their condo at the Tuscany Resort on Grace Bay. It was a trip of a lifetime, many dream about such a trip and we were so blessed to have it become a reality for us.

How can I write words that adequately describe the sun, water and the wind of the Caribbean? From the first step off the plane the warmth of the Caribbean welcomes you (even if you are not dressed for the occasion). The wind is ever present and rich in moisture, combining perfectly with the warmth of the sun.
Anders and I both agree that we have never had a more relaxing time in our lives. All the concerns and busyness of our lives back home were carried out to sea on the Caribbean breeze. Not only were we able to enjoy the amazing island and beaches of Provo together, but we were able to do it in complete luxury. Our home for 9 days was a 3 bedroom condo on the beach with a lovely screened deck were we could watch every sunset if we should desire. We also had the use of a Suburban to explore the island. The condo itself was marvelous in every way providing every modern convenience and beyond. We had many more luxuries in the facility as well such as a beautiful pool, gym facilities, tennis courts, barbecues and use of bikes, all surrounded by Palm trees and geckos. The entire complex is done with luxury and a Mediterranean flair. This vacation exceeded any of our preconceived ideas or expectations. It was truly remarkable!

This is the board walk we crossed every day to go to the beach.

This is our building, we are the left corner unit on the second floor. The path and board walk to the beach is on the left.

This is the screened porch. It was a wonderful place for our morning coffee as we over looked the ocean (next picture).

We could also watch the sunset from the deck if we should so desire.

Neither Anders nor I have been to the Caribbean before. We looked at pictures before we left but they really can't capture it. The water is amazing. The truest turquoise I have ever seen. The white sand goes on for miles (Grace Bay Beach is 14 miles long). The sand is a wonderfully soft, fine white sand and filled with the most exquisite little shells. The ocean water is very salty, much more so than the ocean here at home. The water is wonderfully warm, one could stay in it all day and never feel chilled. One day I swam before 9am and it felt just as warm as at midday. These are a few of the pictures we took and like the pictures we looked at before our trip, they really can't capture all the vibrant color and beauty.

We spent every day on the beach. We walked many miles together in the sand, talking and enjoying our time together. We swam everyday as well, floating around and playing in the surf. We collected shells, read our books, watched people and talked more. This is the longest we have been alone together since our honeymoon and it was truly wonderful!

The sunsets were stunning every night. Always a little different but that's not surprising... we serve a God who loves variety and uniqueness.
While on Provo we visited with some locals (called Belongers or TI's) and tourists. It is always great to meet new people and actually have the time to talk... no one had to rush off to some appointment or accomplish some task that couldn't wait. We were on "Island time"
I never wore my watch while in Turks. We allowed the sun or our appetites to set the time. We rose with the sun at 7am and closed off our beach or pool time with the setting sun. A couple of nights we dined while watching the sun set.
These are some of our sunsets.

We also had some other adventures on our trip and took in some local sights. I will leave that for my next Blog post.
